Story behind the name
Aga, agha, is a Turkish noun that means “chief, elder brother, or warlord” which is essentially an honorific title for a civilian or military officer, or often part of such title, and was placed after the name of certain civilian or military functionaries in the Ottomans. The agha word was inspired by many nations in related meanings such as Greek, Persian, Korean, Bulgarian.
